The Seattle Storm lost to the Golden State Valkyries in a preseason game on April 25. The closely contested match ended with the Valkyries winning 78-76 after a competitive fourth quarter.

This preseason game provided both teams an opportunity to test their lineups and evaluate player performances ahead of the regular season. The result highlighted areas for improvement and showcased emerging talent, especially for Seattle.

Seattle started strong, led by guard Jade Melbourne who scored seven points in seven minutes while shooting 75% from the field. Early in the second quarter, two quick baskets gave Seattle its first lead at 22-21. The Storm outscored Golden State 24-12 during this period and finished the first half shooting over 45% from three-point range.

Golden State responded in the third quarter but Seattle managed to hold onto a narrow two-point lead entering the final frame. In a back-and-forth fourth quarter, Seattle attempted eleven free throws over ten minutes before Golden State ultimately secured victory with a late push.

The game served as an early indicator of team strengths and areas needing attention as both teams prepare for upcoming regular season play.
