The Seattle Storm announced on April 12 the signing of free agent Katie Lou Samuelson. The team did not disclose terms of the deal, in accordance with its policy.
Samuelson returns to the Storm after missing last season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury she suffered during training camp. General Manager Talisa Rhea said, “Lou brings length, versatility and the ability to stretch the floor, all extremely valuable skillsets for our team. She has attacked her recovery and rehab with determination and focus on returning to play at a high level. We’re excited to have Lou back on the court this season and know she’ll make an immediate impact.”
Samuelson previously signed a one-year contract with Seattle in February 2025 but was unable to play that year because of her injury. Before that, she played for Indiana Fever in 2024, appearing in 37 games and averaging 4.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. In the 2022 season with Los Angeles Sparks, she averaged a career-high of 9.7 points per game while shooting over thirty-five percent from three-point range.
During her first period with Seattle in 2021, Samuelson averaged seven points per game along with career bests in field goal percentage (45.6%) and rebounds (3.5 per game). She was also part of Seattle’s inaugural Commissioner’s Cup championship team.
