Seattle University’s track and field team set several new personal records during a split-squad weekend, according to an April 4 announcement. The Redhawks competed at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco and the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane.

The achievements mark significant progress for both individual athletes and the program’s all-time top-10 lists. Setting new marks not only demonstrates growth among current competitors but also highlights Seattle U’s continued presence in collegiate track and field.

At the San Francisco meet, Dan Barreto ran a personal-best steeplechase time of 9:47.16, which is now the tenth-fastest in school history. He joins teammates Jeremy Posdon (9:39.86) and Porter Buck (9:41.79) on Seattle U’s men’s steeplechase top-10 list. On the women’s side, Annabelle Clapp posted a personal-best of 4:37.13 in the 1500 meters—also tenth-best historically—and clocked a 57.71 in the 400 meters for third place at the meet and sixth all-time for Seattle U.

Meanwhile, competition in Spokane brought further accomplishments. Zachary Schriner threw a personal-best javelin distance of 47.68 meters, improving his own sixth-place standing on Seattle U’s record list. Rachel Albright did likewise with her hammer throw of 38.59 meters, also holding onto sixth place historically.

Matthew Fiso moved from ninth to fourth all-time with his long jump of 6.52 meters and came close to his triple jump record by leaping 14.11 meters; his best remains at 14.28 meters—the farthest ever by a Redhawk athlete.

Additional strong performances included Mira Danish leading women’s times in the Spokane meet’s 1500m race with a finish of 4:51.90, followed closely by Mila Tsai (4:53.45), Lydia Dale (4:56.24), Jordan White (4:56.31), while Peyton Basilio set her own PR at 5:13.54.

Other notable results featured Khalid Hirsi setting a PR of 4:05.37 in the men’s 1500m; Kristina Shkalenkova nearly reached school top-10 status with her PR performance in the women’s 400m; Kaylyn Huynh achieved her best time yet at that distance as well.

Relay teams rounded out results with Shkalenkova, Basilio, Tsai and Danish recording a time of 4:10.69 for women while Alexzander Osorio, Seku Sanders, Riley Tricas and Osaze Demund finished their men’s relay event at 3:30.32.

Looking ahead, Seattle University will participate next week across two venues again—the Larry Byerly Invite from April 17–18 in Portland and Bryan Clay Invite from April16–18 in Azusa.
