Seattle University announced on May 8 that guard Amare Larane will join the Redhawks men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

The addition of Larane is significant for the program as he brings a strong record from his high school career and is expected to contribute both offensively and defensively. Head coach Chris Victor said, “We’re excited to welcome Amare to Seattle. He’s an elite athlete and a proven winner. He can get to the rim at will, has great range and his competitiveness makes him a great fit for our program.”

Larane, who stands at six-foot-three, comes from Palmdale, California where he played at Knight High School. During his time there, he became the school’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing nine-time NBA All-Star Paul George. In his senior year (2025-26), Larane averaged 27.1 points per game with a shooting percentage of 54%. He also contributed an average of 6.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.

Larane led Knight High School to its first CIF Southern Section championship in the 2024-25 season and earned multiple honors including CIF Division 3-AA Player of the Year and the John Wooden Division 3 Award. He was named Golden League MVP in consecutive seasons and helped secure four league championships—three of which were undefeated campaigns.

Over four years with Knight High School, Larane helped achieve a total of 89 wins with records such as a perfect league mark in both the 2024-25 (14-0) and subsequent seasons. His tenure included overall records like a combined total of over twenty wins each year since his sophomore season.
