Seattle University softball secured its first victory in West Coast Conference play by defeating Pacific 3-2 at Bill Simoni Field on April 2. The Redhawks, now holding a record of 15-19 overall and 1-0 in the conference, broke a nine-game road losing streak with this win.

The game marks an important milestone for Seattle U as it is their inaugural WCC victory since joining the conference in July of 2025. This achievement highlights the team’s progress and sets a precedent for future conference matchups.

Senior Taylor Fitch led the Redhawks offensively with one hit and one run, extending her hitting streak to six games and bringing her season total to 33 runs. Freshman Audrey Borup contributed significantly by delivering the game-winning RBI double as a pinch hitter. Junior Karen Spadafora also drove in a run, while senior Brooklyn Jones recorded a double during the contest. Graduate Jay Ross added another hit for Seattle U, with Avari Morris and Abbie Fales each scoring once.

Defensively, Ross achieved a career-high ten putouts at first base. Junior Mikee Morris led with three assists from shortstop. In pitching, Morris started and threw four innings before freshman Kaia Galaviz closed out the final three innings without allowing any runs and struck out three batters, earning her fourth win of the year.

The game remained scoreless through three innings until Seattle U took advantage of walks and errors to score twice in the fourth inning. After Pacific tied it up later that inning, both teams battled defensively until Borup’s late RBI double put Seattle ahead for good.

Seattle University will continue its series against Pacific tomorrow afternoon at Bill Simoni Field with first pitch scheduled for 4 PM.
