Seattle University softball lost to Creighton University 11-8 on March 27, despite leading early and outhitting the Bluejays for a second consecutive day at Creighton Softball Stadium.
The result matters as it reflects Seattle University’s ongoing efforts in their season, highlighting both offensive strengths and areas for improvement. The Redhawks now hold a record of 14-18, while Creighton improves to 17-18.
Junior Avari Morris led Seattle with three hits in four at bats, including an extra-base hit. Graduate Jay Ross also collected three hits, matching her career high. Juniors Mikee Morris and Karen Spadafora each recorded two hits with home runs; Spadafora drove in two runs and matched senior Ava Sin and Avari Morris with two runs batted in apiece. Defensively, Spadafora and senior Taylor Fitch combined for eight putouts.
In the pitching circle, Avari Morris started the game for Seattle before freshman Kaia Galaviz pitched most of the contest, striking out four batters over 2.2 innings. The Redhawks began strong defensively by forcing a scoreless first inning from Creighton before taking a quick lead with home runs from Spadafora.
Creighton responded by scoring six runs in the bottom of the second inning and added five more between the third and fifth innings to build a seven-run advantage. Despite this deficit, Seattle mounted a comeback attempt in later innings: Mikee Morris hit a solo home run in the seventh inning but it was not enough to overcome Creighton’s lead.
Seattle University will conclude its three-game series against Creighton tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM Pacific Time.
