Seattle University softball lost 12-6 to Creighton in the series finale at Creighton Softball Stadium on March 28. The Redhawks, now with a record of 14-19, took an early lead but could not hold off the Bluejays, who improved their record to 18-18.

The game began with junior Mikee Morris hitting her sixth home run of the season, giving Seattle U a quick advantage. Morris led the team offensively with two extra-base hits, two runs scored, and three runs batted in. Junior Sophia Kissling also contributed two hits and five defensive putouts.

Seattle U managed a total of eleven hits from eight different players. Senior Brooklyn Jones recorded an extra-base hit while freshmen pinch hitters Oona Capristo and Aurora Zepeda each added singles in their only plate appearances. In the pitching circle, sophomore Maya Mesa threw four innings and struck out two batters after junior Berkley Vance started and pitched two innings.

Creighton responded strongly after Morris’s home run by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Despite regaining a brief lead in the second inning through a double by Morris and an RBI groundout by Avari Morris, Seattle U fell behind as Creighton continued to score consistently across multiple innings.

The Redhawks attempted a comeback late in the game with singles from Spadafora, Capristo, and Zepeda that brought them within six runs. However, Creighton’s defense secured the final outs needed for victory.

Seattle University will begin its conference play next week with a three-game series against Pacific in Stockton, California.
