Seattle University softball lost to the University of Montana 6-2 in the series finale on March 24 at Grizzly Softball Field. Sophomore Abbie Fales hit a home run for the Redhawks, but it was not enough to secure a win.

The game saw junior Avari Morris lead Seattle U with three hits out of four at bats, while Fales contributed two hits and her home run. Freshman Ava Day scored the final run for Seattle U. Senior Taylor Fitch, graduate Jay Ross, and freshman Audrey Borup also recorded hits during the contest.

Morris started as pitcher and completed five innings, facing 25 batters and striking out seven—just one short of her season high. Junior Berkley Vance pitched the last inning, striking out one batter. The Redhawks were able to keep Montana scoreless through several innings before a late push by Montana extended their lead.

Despite efforts in both offense and defense—including eight putouts from junior Karen Spadafora—the Redhawks could not overcome an early deficit or respond after Montana’s three-run home run in the sixth inning.

Seattle University will travel next to Creighton for a three-game series beginning Thursday.
