Seattle University softball lost to Loyola Marymount University 8-0 in six innings at Logan Field on April 18. The Redhawks now hold an overall record of 18-22 and a conference record of 4-4, while LMU improves to 27-15 overall and matches Seattle’s conference record.

The game saw sophomore Abbie Fales lead the Redhawks with one hit in two at bats. Graduate Jay Ross also recorded a base hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and reached base earlier with a walk. Senior Ava Sin drew a walk as well but was left stranded.

Junior Avari Morris pitched all six innings for Seattle, facing 36 batters and striking out three. Defensively, Ross and junior Karen Spadafora each made four putouts, with Spadafora catching a runner stealing early in the contest. Morris led her team with two assists from the circle.

LMU scored twice in the first inning before Ross and Sin reached base on walks, but Seattle could not capitalize on those opportunities. Fales advanced to second after hitting to shallow center field but was again left on base as LMU maintained its lead into the third inning.

The Lions extended their advantage by scoring three runs in the fourth inning on two hits and an error, then added three more runs in the sixth before Morris ended their rally with her third strikeout. Although Ross singled with one out late in the game, Seattle was unable to score or extend play into a seventh inning.

Seattle University is scheduled to return for another game against LMU on Sunday at 11 AM.
