Seattle University softball began its West Coast Conference schedule with a three-game road series against Pacific starting April 2 at Bill Simoni Field.

The start of conference play marks an important step for the Redhawks, who enter the series with a record of 14-19. The team is aiming to improve its standing in both the conference and national rankings.

Junior Avari Morris leads Seattle U with a .435 batting average over 115 at bats. Morris is tied for 88th nationally in batting average and ranks second in the WCC in hits with 50, which also places her tied for 28th nationally. She has recorded 12 doubles this season, tying her for third in the WCC and tied for 25th nationwide. Senior Taylor Fitch joins Morris as one of two Redhawks batting above .400, holding a .422 average that is third best in the WCC. Fitch’s offensive contributions include leading the conference with 43 RBIs and ranking third in home runs (12), placing her among national leaders as well.

Morris and Fitch have combined to score 61 runs this season, ranking them third and fourth respectively within their league. Senior Ava Sin (.350) and graduate Jay Ross (.333) are also among the top-20 hitters by average in the WCC, contributing significantly to Seattle U’s offense.

On defense, junior Berkley Vance has led from the pitching circle through more than seventy innings pitched, while Morris adds another fifty-five strikeouts to her impressive season stats. Freshman Kaia Galaviz ranks eleventh in strikeouts within conference play.

The Redhawks currently lead their conference with a .326 team batting average—good enough for forty-ninth nationally—and rank high across several other offensive categories including total hits (305), runs scored (204), and RBIs (193). This series marks only their second meeting against Pacific this year but their first ever as conference opponents; historically, Seattle U leads their matchups six games to four.

Looking ahead, Seattle University will return home after nearly a month away to host Saint Mary’s during Alumni Weekend.
