Seattle University softball’s four seniors combined for five hits, three runs, and four runs batted in during a narrow 7-6 defeat to Santa Clara at Logan Field on May 3.

The performance by Jay Ross, Brooklyn Jones, Taylor Fitch, and Ava Sin marked their final home game. The team recorded twelve hits but ultimately fell short after Santa Clara scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Fitch led with two hits—including her thirteenth home run of the season—and two runs scored. This achievement tied her for third most home runs in a single season at Seattle University and secured fourth place on the program’s career list. Sin matched Fitch with two hits and added one run batted in. Jones had one hit in two at bats and drove in two runs over four at bats. Ross contributed defensively with seven putouts at first base.

Sophomore Abbie Fales collected an extra base hit among her two total hits, while junior Avari Morris reached her seventy-second hit of the year—now tied for fourth all-time for single-season hits at Seattle University. Freshman Kaia Galaviz started as pitcher, throwing three-and-two-thirds innings before Morris finished out the contest.

Seattle University took an early lead but saw Santa Clara respond throughout the game. After regaining a 6-4 advantage heading into the final inning, Seattle allowed three Bronco runs following a double and an error. The Redhawks threatened to tie late but were unable to capitalize due to a substitution infraction after a hit by pitch ended their comeback attempt.

Seattle will conclude its season with a three-game series against San Diego.
