Seattle University softball will finish its inaugural season in the West Coast Conference with a three-game series at San Diego from May 7 through May 9. The games will take place at Reggie Smith Softball Complex and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The matchup is significant as it marks the end of Seattle U’s first campaign in the conference. Both teams are seeking to finish their seasons on a positive note, with Seattle holding a record of 19-29 overall and San Diego at 18-30.
Junior Avari Morris leads Seattle U, ranking second in the conference with a .426 batting average and also holding second place for hits this season. She is three hits away from tying the program’s single-season record. Morris has also contributed as a pitcher, leading all Redhawks with 66 strikeouts and maintaining an opponent batting average of .278 over her 21 appearances.
Senior Ava Sin has recorded 55 hits this year and leads the conference in doubles, now tied for second most doubles in a single season for the program. Sin holds a .367 batting average and ranks fifth in runs batted in within the league. Senior Taylor Fitch stands out as well, leading Seattle U with 50 RBI—third best in the conference—and tallying her thirteenth home run of the year.
Freshman Kaia Galaviz has been effective from the circle, ranking seventh among conference pitchers for earned run average across her 23 appearances. Junior Berkley Vance leads all Redhawk pitchers by innings pitched while graduate Jay Ross ranks fifth in putouts among first basemen.
The Redhawks have achieved a team batting average of .314 this season, accumulating strong numbers across several offensive categories including leading their league in doubles. Historically, Seattle U trails San Diego narrowly (5-6) since they began meeting in 2011; their last contest was played on neutral ground two years ago.
San Diego recently ended a four-game losing streak but continues to look for its first series win since early April. The Toreros hold an overall home record of ten wins this year.
Looking ahead, next weekend concludes Seattle’s debut journey through West Coast Conference play before changes arrive: beginning with the 2027 season, WCC will introduce a post-season tournament featuring four teams competing at one host campus.
