Seattle University softball will return to Logan Field for a three-game conference series against Loyola Marymount University from April 17 through April 19. All games will be available on ESPN+.
The matchup is important as both teams continue their campaigns in the West Coast Conference. Seattle U currently holds an 18-21 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play, while LMU enters with a 21-15 overall record and is 2-4 in the WCC.
Junior Avari Morris leads both the team and the conference with a .441 batting average, which ranks her 56th nationally. Morris has tallied 60 hits this season, placing her tied for 32nd in the country and just six hits away from entering Seattle U’s top ten for single-season hits. She also leads the league in runs scored with 38 and has contributed four wins as a pitcher, striking out 58 batters over 67 innings.
Senior Taylor Fitch adds strength to the lineup with a .402 batting average across 122 at bats, including twelve home runs and forty-seven runs batted in. Fitch is among the top five players in these categories within the conference and is tied for forty-eighth nationally in RBIs. Senior Ava Sin (.350) and graduate Jay Ross (.317) have also made significant offensive contributions, with Sin leading or tying atop several league metrics including doubles (14).
On defense, Kaia Galaviz—recently named WCC pitcher of the week—has earned six wins over eighteen appearances this season while maintaining an earned run average of just over three. Junior Berkley Vance leads Seattle U pitchers with eighty-five innings thrown. Junior Karen Spadafora heads up defensive efforts with one hundred sixty-four putouts this year.
This series marks only the second time LMU has played at Seattle since their meetings began in 2009; previously, LMU led nine games to four overall after winning their last encounter in Los Angeles during spring of last year.
Saturday’s game will feature “Bark in the Park,” offering giveaways such as water bowls, dog tags, and bandanas for fans attending with dogs. After facing LMU, Seattle U travels to Oregon State before returning home again to host Santa Clara.
