Seattle University softball will host Saint Mary’s for a three-game West Coast Conference series at Logan Field from April 10 through April 12, according to an announcement on Apr. 9. The games, which mark the Redhawks’ first conference home series of the season, can be streamed on ESPN+.

The matchup is significant as both teams are tied atop the conference standings with identical 3-0 records in league play. Seattle U comes into the weekend after sweeping Pacific on the road, while Saint Mary’s recently recorded wins over ranked opponents Washington and Stanford.

Junior Avari Morris leads Seattle U with a .437 batting average, pacing both the team and conference in that category and ranking among national leaders. Senior Taylor Fitch also stands out with a .417 average and ranks top-three in home runs within the conference. Three Redhawks—Fitch, Ava Sin, and Karen Spadafora—are among the WCC’s top ten in runs batted in.

From the pitching circle, Morris has tallied 56 strikeouts across 16 appearances this season. Junior Berkley Vance is also among league leaders with 44 strikeouts and ranks sixth in innings pitched. Freshman Kaia Galaviz leads Seattle U pitchers with a 3.71 earned run average.

Defensively, Spadafora and graduate Jay Ross lead in putouts while Fitch has recorded a team-high number of assists. As a team, Seattle U leads or ranks near the top of several offensive categories within their conference including batting average (.328), hits (334), runs (225), doubles (67), and home runs (37).

Historically, Seattle U holds a six-to-two advantage over Saint Mary’s in their all-time meetings but this will be their first contest since becoming West Coast Conference rivals.

The university will celebrate alumni throughout the weekend series with special events including a tailgate before Saturday’s game at 1 p.m., followed by first pitch at 2 p.m., as well as its inaugural ‘bark in the park’ event.
