Seattle University softball will travel to Idaho and Montana for a series of games against Idaho State and the University of Montana, according to a March 20 announcement. The Redhawks are scheduled for three games in Pocatello before heading to Missoula for another three-game set.
The trip marks Seattle U’s return to action after a break since March 7, when they completed a sweep of Montana at Logan Field. Their previously scheduled series against Sacramento State was canceled due to weather-related travel issues.
Junior Avari Morris leads the Redhawks with a .434 batting average and has recorded 36 hits in 83 at bats. Seniors Taylor Fitch and Ava Sin are also among the top hitters, both ranking in the top-10 in conference batting averages. Fitch is hitting .429 with nine home runs and 33 runs batted in, while Sin holds a .412 average with 25 RBIs. Fitch and Morris have combined for 52 runs this season, tying them for second place in individual runs scored within the West Coast Conference (WCC).
On the pitching side, junior Berkley Vance has thrown 53.2 innings, leading the team to five wins and recording 36 strikeouts. Morris contributes as both a hitter and pitcher, having pitched 41.1 innings with her 40 strikeouts ranking sixth in the WCC.
Defensively, junior Karen Spadafora leads Seattle U with 108 putouts and is one of nine WCC players surpassing the century mark this season. Graduate Jay Ross ranks among the league’s top-15 with 74 putouts between first and second base. Offensively, Ross and Spadafora have combined for 46 hits so far.
The Redhawks currently lead the WCC in total runs (164) and RBIs (157), while their .327 team batting average ranks first in the conference and forty-ninth nationally. Seattle U last played Idaho State in 2021 but trails slightly in their all-time series since it began in 2009. After this weekend’s games, Seattle U will continue its road schedule with a three-game series against Creighton.
