The Seattle University women’s golf team won the Bobcat Desert Classic in Goodyear, Arizona, finishing three strokes ahead of Montana State on April 15. The Redhawks posted a team score of +9 over par, marking their most dominant performance of the season as they head into postseason play.

This tournament highlighted the contributions of freshmen Zoe Rubichon and Blayne Brown. Rubichon tied her career-low round with a -3 under, 69 in the first round and achieved her best collegiate finish by placing second individually at -2 under, 214 with 11 birdies. Brown also set a new personal best by finishing fifth at -1 under, 215 and matching her career-low round with a -3 under, 69 in the second round.

“Congratulations to our freshmen, who were very impressive this week,” said head coach Marc Chandonnet. “This victory doesn’t happen without all five players. We battled the wind and heat today and you could tell they were feeling the pressure, so it was awesome to see them handle it so well.”

Senior Tsara Ralamboarison contributed to the team’s success by finishing just outside the top ten at twelfth place with +5 over, 221. Fellow senior Aaryanna Morris ended her last regular-season competition for Seattle U tying her season-best round (+1 over, 73) and placed twenty-sixth overall at +8 over, 224.

Jeanne Padillo rounded out scoring for Seattle U in sixty-fourth place but made an important third-round contribution that helped secure the team’s win without needing a playoff hole. Melissa Gilloz competed as an individual and finished thirty-eighth.

The Redhawks will next compete in the West Coast Conference Championship from April 25-27 at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, California.
