The Seattle University women’s tennis team lost to Loyola Marymount University on March 29, falling 7-0 in their second West Coast Conference match.

The result marks a setback for the Redhawks as they continue their conference schedule. The loss came during Seattle U’s first road match after playing three consecutive home matches.

Lamija Avdic and Daria Nazarenko competed strongly in doubles but were unable to secure the point for Seattle U. In singles play, freshman Amina Avdic put up resistance but ultimately fell short, as the Redhawks were swept across all singles matches by LMU players.

The doubles pairings saw L. Avdic and Michta facing Bozova and Pietrzynska from LMU, with the match unfinished at 5-6. Zahraj and Schnack of LMU defeated A. Avdic and Nazarenko 6-1, while Gonzalez and Samel-Druz beat Tavcar and Teramura 6-3. In singles competition, all six Seattle U players were defeated by their LMU counterparts in straight sets.

Seattle U will look to rebound when they return home for their next match against Saint Mary’s on April 2 at 10:00 a.m.
