Sounders FC secured a place in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-1 on Mar. 18 at ONE Spokane Stadium. The result, combined with a previous 3-0 victory at BC Place, gave Seattle a 5-2 aggregate win and set up a meeting with either FC Cincinnati or Tigres UANL in the next round.

The match was notable as Sounders FC’s first-ever game in Eastern Washington, drawing an attendance of 5,126—the highest for a Concacaf Champions Cup match played outside Seattle in the state. Danny Musovski and Paul Rothrock scored for Seattle, with Peter Kingston providing assists on both goals. Kingston’s contributions marked his first two assists for the First Team.

Musovski’s goal in the 79th minute was his first of the season, while Rothrock’s strike in the 83rd minute was his team-leading fourth and extended his scoring streak to three consecutive matches. The lineup saw significant rotation from head coach Brian Schmetzer compared to Sunday’s Major League Soccer fixture against San Jose Earthquakes.

The match took place at ONE Spokane Stadium because Lumen Field is undergoing preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Following this cup tie, Sounders FC will return to league play with an away game against Minnesota United on Sunday.

Seattle finished the match with eleven shots and four on target, while Vancouver recorded thirteen shots and five on goal. Both teams made several substitutions throughout the contest. The referee for the evening was Oshane Nation.
