Sounders FC defeated Houston Dynamo FC 1-0 on April 4 at Shell Energy Stadium, earning three points on the road. Paul Rothrock scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute, while Andrew Thomas secured his fifth shutout in league play this season. The result extended Seattle’s unbeaten streak across all competitions to six games.
The victory places Seattle in fifth position in the Western Conference with 13 points from six matches. This match also marked a milestone for captain Cristian Roldan, who became only the second player in club history to reach 400 appearances across all competitions, joining Stefan Frei.
Rothrock’s goal was assisted by Jordan Morris and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, both recording their first assists of the season. The team’s defensive performance continued a strong trend; Seattle has now kept five clean sheets in its first six league matches—a new club record for starts to a season—and is tied for second-most shutouts in Major League Soccer this year.
Head Coach Brian Schmetzer made five changes to his starting lineup compared to their previous game against Minnesota United FC. Jackson Ragen, Snyder Brunell, Paul Arriola, Jesús Ferreira and Danny Musovski were included from kickoff.
The contest concluded a five-match stretch of away games for Seattle during which they compiled a record of three wins, one loss and one draw. Next up for Sounders FC is an away fixture against Tigres UANL on April 8 as part of the Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals first leg. Their next home league match will be against St. Louis CITY SC on April 18 at Lumen Field.
