Jenny Kenyon Terry Added to Track and Field Staff

Seattle U's track and field team announced today that they have added Jenny Kenyon Terry as an assistant coach, working specifically with sprints, jumps and hurdles.

"We are really excited to have Jenny joining our staff," said Seattle U Head Coach Kelly Sullivan. "I have known Jenny for some time, dating back to my last couple years at Willamette University, where she helped assist on both our women's and men's championship cross country and track and field teams. We have stayed in touch since then and I have been able to watch her succeed at the collegiate, professional and business side of coaching. Our young men and women in both programs will benefit greatly from her work as will all of us on the staff."

Terry joins the program with many years of track and field experience, both as a competitor and a coach. She grew up competing in track and field in Newbury Park, Calif., where she excelled in sprints and long jump. She continued her athletic career at the University of Oregon, competing in the heptathlon, where she was a scholar-athlete and Pac-10 scorer during her four seasons.

While completing her master's degree in Educational Leadership at Oregon, she worked with the sprinters and hurdlers at Willamette University, where she worked under then head coach Kelly Sullivan. Terry then began her DI coaching career at DePaul University in Chicago overseeing the sprints, jumps and hurdles program from 2003-05. She moved back to California in the summer of 2005 to take a job at UC Santa Barbara as the sprints, jumps, hurdles and multievent coach.

After three seasons at UCSB, she transitioned into the private sector as a speed and running coach. In 2015, she became the Director of Track & Endurance Sports at Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, Calif., overseeing all youth, high school and elite speed development programs and specializing in running analysis and mechanics.

Terry recently moved to Seattle with her husband, Michael, and hopes to use the sport of track and field to teach student athletes valuable life lessons through hard work and perseverance.

"I'm excited to be out on the track again with a great group of dedicated athletes" said Terry. "Coach Kelly Sullivan and Chad Pharis have an exceptional program that I am proud to be a part of."
