Campus and civic leaders come together for Earth Talks on Earth Day.
On Earth Day, April 22, members of the campus community and civic partners will come together for the 3rd Annual Earth Talks.
Over two sessions, this virtual showcase will feature short presentations from students, faculty, staff and leaders in the community around the theme, “Just Sustainability: Care for Our Common Home.” The sessions will feature research, service, community projects and artwork, along with a Q&A with keynote speakers Senator Rebecca Saldaña and David Mendoza, director of Public Advocacy and Engagement at the Nature Conservancy.
The Earth Talk sessions are 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.–3:30 p.m. Register for the event here.

Green Hawks, Let’s Talk!: Incorporating Sustainability into the School Curriculum
April 26, 12:30–1:20 p.m. at the Union Green
Ever felt like sustainability could be more of a priority in your classes? Unsure of how to initiate a conversation surrounding environmental justice or how to advocate for a change in course outcomes? Head to the Union Green* during the lunch hour to chat with students about experiences navigating your major’s curriculum in regard to sustainability. This event is created by students for students and all majors are welcome!
*location is weather dependent; a new location will be announced closer to event date if necessary
Work Parties in the SU Gardens
April 26, 10 a.m.–noon, Administration Buidling West and Garrand West gardens

Indigenous Plant and Food Traditions
April 26, 12:30–4 p.m., LeRoux Room (Student Center)
This event will feature Indigenous and non-Indigenous plant experts offering introductions to Indigenous relationships with plants, storytelling, plant walks, and hands-on learning experiences with plants, including salve or lip balm making (see the schedule below.) This event is open to both the SU community and the public.

Earth Month Open Mic
April 29, 7:15–9 p.m. at the Kubota Legacy Garden (outside of the Sinegal Center)
Close out Earth Month with KXSU, the Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability and University REC at our spring quarter open mic. Stop by to learn about sustainability and UREC’s outdoor programming while supporting your peers performing at open mic night. There will be fire pits, music and opportunities to learn about some of the great ways to get involved with Seattle University’s Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability. Want to perform?
