Seattle Police are investigating a shooting in Rainier Valley Sunday evening.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 9400 block of Rainier Avenue South. Police arrived and found a male with a gunshot wound. Police provided first aid until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived. Medics transported the victim to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers secured the scene and located more than twenty high-caliber rifle shell casings along with multiple smaller caliber shell casings. Police also found heavy damage to an apartment building and vehicles in the area. One of the errant rounds made it through the exterior wall of the building and into a resident’s closet.

Witnesses stated they observed a dark blue Dodge or Chrysler sedan flee the scene. The suspect was described to be a black male, slim build, average height, wearing a black sweater and gray ski mask.

Detectives with SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be leading the investigation. Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
