Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the West Seattle community to visit our booth at the Morgan Junction Festival on Sunday, June 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. to reconfirm the design and to provide input on additional park features for the future Morgan Junction Park addition.
This is an opportunity for the community to meet the design team and review the schematic design developed prior to the project being put on hold due to the pandemic. The design of the park incorporates accessibility features in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provide more open space within this high-density urban village.
SPR anticipates extensive remediation work on the property to occur in August 2023. The property will then be open for interim use until spring of 2025 when construction of the new park design will occur. SPR purchased the property to the north of the existing park, 6311 California Ave. SW, in 2014 to provide additional open space for the West Seattle community.
Thank you to the Morgan Community Association for producing the festival and for all their work in the community. For more information or to review the schematic design please visit https://www.seattle.gov/parks/about-us/projects/morgan-junction-park-addition.
For questions about the project or if you need an interpreter or accommodations at the event please contact Kelly Goold, the project manager at Kelly.Goold@seattle.gov.
