Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR), in collaboration with the Office of Arts & Culture, re-opens Spruce St. Mini Park, 160 21st Avenue, 98122, in Seattle’s Central District on Friday evening, June 16 after the completion of a major park renovation project. The park now offers new play equipment, ADA improvements, enhanced seating options, new pathways, and a beautiful community-inspired mural. SPR anticipates hosting a ribbon cutting event for the community in late July.
A portion of the park will remain fenced off to allow more time for grass establishment. The community is asked to please stay out of fenced areas to allow the new grass to establish. Thank you in advance to the community for your cooperation and patience as the grass grows.
The renovation includes reconfiguration of the play area layout, new play equipment, ADA improvements, benches, seating steps, and new pathways. SPR would like to thank everyone who participated in the community design process, which incorporated the new bright playful-color play features.
Additionally, we would like to thank the Office of Arts & Culture and the artists, Ari Glass and Craig Cundiff who completed the Spruce Street Mural Art Project with SPR 1% for Art funds.
