Juvenile Robbery Suspect Arrested, Found with Stolen Handgun

Police arrested a wanted juvenile robbery suspect and recovered a stolen handgun in the Downtown area Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1:15 p.m., West Precinct officers were advised by a detective with the SPD Gun Violence Reduction Unit to watch for a robbery suspect wanted by Bellevue Police who was believed to be in the vicinity of 700 Blanchard Street.

With the assistance of an officer from the Department of Corrections, police located the suspect in the 300 block of Lenora Street. Once in custody, officers found and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from the suspect’s front waistband. Police checked the serial number and confirmed the gun had been reported stolen out of Federal Way.

The 16-year-old suspect was transported to the King County Youth Services Center and booked for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm. He will also face additional charges for armed robbery filed by Bellevue Police.
