Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin and sophomore Sydnie Rodriguez were named to the College Sports Communicators All-Academic All-District team for Seattle University women’s basketball, according to a March 24 announcement. The recognition highlights their achievements both in academics and athletics during the season.
The selection to the All-Academic team underscores the importance of balancing athletic performance with academic success. Both student-athletes also represented Seattle University on the All-Academic All-West Coast Conference team this season.
To be eligible for these honors, student-athletes must participate in more than half of their team’s games and maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 over the most recently completed academic term.
Stricklin started in 29 games this season, setting career highs in several categories including points per game (10.4), total points scored (303), field goals made (113), three-pointers made (35), rebounds (152), assists (53), and blocks (9).
Rodriguez played in 23 games, starting in 22, and achieved new career bests by averaging 6.1 points per game with a total of 140 points scored for the year. She made 43 field goals and posted an improved free throw percentage of 85.7 percent, contributing to Seattle University’s conference-leading free throw percentage this season. Her total rebounds reached a new high at 113.
The recognition reflects both players’ commitment on and off the court as they continue their collegiate careers.
