Anthony Castrovince released on March 21 a ranking of the top ten lineups in Major League Baseball for the upcoming 2026 season. The list evaluates teams based on their projected offensive strength, considering both recent performance and offseason changes.

The ranking is significant as it provides insight into which teams are expected to have the most productive offenses this year. These projections can influence fan expectations and offer a preview of potential playoff contenders.

According to Castrovince, the Los Angeles Dodgers lead the list despite some struggles during the previous season. “What this malaise resulted in was the Dodgers, as a team, going from a 2024 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) mark that was 17% better than league average (second in MLB) to a 2025 wRC+ that was … 13% better than league average (still second in MLB). Oh, and now they’ve brought in Tucker. So … yeah.” The New York Yankees follow closely at number two, with Aaron Judge’s continued strong performance being highlighted: “There will come a day when Judge stops routinely leading the Majors in OBP and slugging and stops hitting 50-plus homers. Maybe it’ll happen here in his age-34 season. Maybe the injury issues that have hampered an otherwise Cooperstown-worthy career will rear their ugly head again.”

The Seattle Mariners are ranked third, with Castrovince noting their home ballpark’s impact on run production but also pointing out reasons for optimism: “But when you adjust for environment, this was a top-three offense in MLB last year. Even if we all readily acknowledge that Raleigh is unlikely to hit 60 home runs again, there are reasons to suspect the M’s can be every bit as good in 2026.” Other teams rounding out the top five include the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics.

Teams such as the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and Arizona Diamondbacks complete the top ten. Each team’s strengths and uncertainties are discussed; for example, injuries could affect both player performance and overall lineup effectiveness.

Castrovince also mentions several honorable mentions just outside of his top ten rankings. He notes that if Yordan Alvarez stays healthy, “the Astros can ascend to the Top 10,” while other teams like the Braves, Royals, Red Sox, and Tigers could see improvement depending on health or breakout performances from key players.

These rankings provide fans with an early look at which lineups may shape this year’s baseball season and highlight how roster moves and player development could impact team success.
