The Washington Huskies women’s beach volleyball team finished the regular season with a 3-1 record at the Alki Beach Invitational, according to an April 18 announcement. The team secured victories over Portland and No. 15 Florida Atlantic on Friday, followed by a loss to Boise State and a win against Oregon on Saturday.

This weekend was significant for the program as it marked Senior Day, with five players recognized for their dedication and consistency during their time with the Huskies. The team’s strong performance provided a positive send-off for these seniors.

Washington began the tournament by sweeping Portland 5-0, highlighted by Niki Egan and Mariana Tomasova’s quick win in straight sets at the No. 3 spot. Ella Tyus and Sarah Wilcock also won in straight sets at No. 2, while Emma Hohenauer and Katarina Pantovic came from behind to secure victory at No. 1 after dropping their first set.

In their second match of Friday, Washington defeated No. 15 Florida Atlantic by a score of 4-1 after losing only at the top pair position but winning four consecutive matches across other spots in the lineup.

On Saturday, Washington narrowly lost to Boise State in a close contest that ended 3-2 despite wins from Egan/Tomasova and Brown/Hay. They rebounded later that day against Oregon, winning three closely contested matches including another comeback effort from Hohenauer/Pantovic at No.1.

Head Coach Steve McFadden was honored during the event with a commemorative ball marking his first win as head coach earlier this season—a sweep over Vanguard on February 20.
