The Washington Huskies women’s beach volleyball team went 2-2 over two days at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship, held at Newland Beach Courts in Huntington Beach, Calif., according to an April 23 announcement. The No. 20-ranked Huskies, seeded eighth in the tournament, secured wins against Oregon and San José State while falling to Stanford and California.

The tournament performance matters as it highlights Washington’s ability to compete against strong opponents and demonstrates the team’s progress during the season. The Huskies finished with a final overall record of 21-14.

Washington opened its championship run with a victory over No. 9 seed Oregon, winning three straight-set matches before dropping one point at the top pair. In their second match on April 22, Washington faced top-seeded Stanford but lost after straight-set defeats in the first three pairs matches; two other matches were left unfinished.

On April 23, Washington bounced back by sweeping No. 10 seed San José State. Wins came from Avery Towne and Alina Urzua at the fifth pair, Niki Egan and Mariana Tomasova at third pair, and Emma Hohenauer and Katarina Pantovic at first pair before clinching left other matches unfinished with leads for Washington.

In their final match of the tournament against fifth-seeded California, Washington was defeated after Cal clinched three points early despite Egan and Tomasova earning a win for the Huskies in straight sets on court three.

Across all four matches played during the championship weekend, Egan and Tomasova led with a strong showing by posting a 3-1 record together on court three.
