The University of Washington Men’s Tennis Team lost a close conference match 4-3 to No. 21 UCLA on April 19 at Quillian Tennis Stadium in Seattle. With this result, the Huskies finished their season with an overall record of 8-17 and a Big Ten record of 2-11.

The match held added significance as it was Senior Day, with Brett Pearson honored in a pre-match ceremony for his achievements during his time at Washington. Pearson secured a straight-set singles victory from the No. 4 position, bringing his all-time combined win total to 83.

Soham Purohit returned to the lineup alongside Pearson for doubles play, but despite adjustments that restored the usual conference pairings, Washington dropped the doubles point to UCLA. Nikola Plavsic and Hyeonseok Seo were leading their unfinished match on court two when other matches concluded.

In singles competition, Stephane Kamendje broke a streak of losses against ranked opponents by defeating No. 33 Emon Van Loben Sels in straight sets, helping spark a comeback attempt by the Huskies after trailing 3-1. Plavsic also earned a win in straight sets over Bengt Reinhard. The contest came down to Rohan Belday’s three-set battle; despite winning the second set tiebreaker, Belday fell short in the third set as UCLA clinched victory.

The Huskies will return for play during the Fall Invitational season.
