The University of Washington Men’s Tennis Team will play its final home matches of the season against two ranked West Coast rivals, facing No. 20 University of Southern California on Friday, April 17, and No. 21 University of California, Los Angeles on Sunday, April 19. Both matches are scheduled at Quillian Tennis Stadium in Seattle.
These contests mark the end of the regular season for the Huskies (8-15), providing a last opportunity for fans to see the team compete at home before postseason play begins. Livestreaming and live stats will be available through Washington Men’s Tennis social media channels on match days.
Weather forecasts predict favorable conditions for both matchups: temperatures around 56 degrees with no precipitation expected on Friday and upper 60s with a slight chance of rain on Sunday.
In series history, USC leads Washington with a record of 22-7. However, last season saw the Huskies secure their second consecutive win over USC, breaking an eight-match losing streak that dated back to the 2016-17 season. In contrast, UCLA holds a dominant position in its series with Washington at 29-3 and has won three straight since the 2022-23 season. The Huskies’ most recent victories over UCLA came during back-to-back wins in the regular season and Pac-12 tournament in 2021-22.
Several Husky players have made notable achievements this year: Soham Purohit and Brett Pearson are currently ranked No. 46 nationally in doubles after a five-match win streak; Rohan Belday and Stephane Kamendje have also put together strong performances in doubles competition.
USC enters Friday’s contest boasting three nationally ranked singles players (No. 67, No.74, No.107) as well as a top-ranked doubles duo (No.86). The Trojans recently swept Northwestern and Illinois at home by scores of 4-0 and 4-1 respectively. UCLA arrives Sunday following a recent victory over Northwestern but has gone just two-for-five in its last five matches; several Bruins singles players are ranked inside the top hundred nationally.
Sunday’s match will also serve as Senior Day for Brett Pearson, who will be honored before first serve alongside festivities featuring school mascots and band members.
Looking ahead, postseason play is set to begin April 22nd with the Big Ten Tournament taking place in Ojai, California.
