The Washington Huskies baseball team will resume Big Ten Conference play with a three-game series at Minnesota, beginning Friday, April 9. The series opener is scheduled for 4 p.m. Pacific Time, with all games broadcast on Big Ten Plus and live stats available at HuskyStats.com.
This matchup comes as the Huskies seek to improve on their current 6-6 record in conference play. The team has shown strong performances recently, both offensively and defensively. Jackson Hotchkiss leads the squad in home runs with nine and holds top marks in batting average (.265), slugging percentage (.765), on-base percentage (.430), and multi-hit games (11). He currently ranks eighth in the Big Ten for total home runs.
On the mound, Washington’s pitching staff has posted notable statistics this season, ranking among the nation’s best in several categories: 42nd in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.46), 55th in walks allowed per nine innings (3.88), and recording a total of 43 strikeouts during their recent series against Valparaiso. Noah Kenney stood out by tossing seven shutout innings with a career-high 14 strikeouts to earn national recognition from Baseball America’s Team of the Week.
Colton Bower has also contributed significantly to Washington’s offense, tallying eight home runs and leading the team with 26 RBIs this season. The Huskies have hit a total of 35 homers so far—eighth-most among Big Ten teams—and are ranked tenth nationally for triples after Colton Bower recorded their twelfth triple last week.
Head Coach Eddie Smith is now in his second season leading Washington after joining from Utah Valley University on July 9, 2024. Under Smith’s guidance, Washington remains unbeaten at Husky Ballpark since entering the Big Ten Conference last year.
Following this weekend’s series at Minnesota—which continues Saturday at 1 p.m. PT and Sunday at 11 a.m.—the Huskies aim to maintain momentum as they progress through conference play.
