The No. 14 Washington Huskies softball team, holding a 30-6 record and an undefeated 12-0 mark in Big Ten play, will return to the road for the Cardinal Classic beginning April 2. The team is set to face No. 24 Stanford twice and Saint Mary’s twice, with all games taking place at Stanford.
This week’s matchups are significant as the Huskies look to extend their current winning streak and maintain their top position in the Big Ten Conference. Both games against Stanford will be streamed on the ACC Network, while contests against Saint Mary’s will not be broadcast.
The schedule features back-to-back doubleheaders: Thursday’s games include a matchup with Saint Mary’s at 2 p.m., followed by Stanford at 5 p.m., and Friday repeats this format before concluding Saturday against Stanford. The Huskies recently completed a perfect March, going 16-0 overall—8-0 at home and 7-0 on the road—and have now won their last twenty games. Key highlights from March include pitching achievements such as Sophia Ramuno and Rylee Rehbein combining for a no-hitter against Iowa, along with individual honors awarded to Morgan Reimer (D1 Softball National Pitcher of the Week), Sophia Ramuno (Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week), and Kaycie Burdick (Big Ten Freshman of the Week).
Offensively, Washington has outscored opponents by a wide margin this season—279 runs scored versus just 111 allowed through thirty-six games—and leads both conference standings and national rankings in several categories. Players like Jadyn Glab, Ally Hetzel, Giselle Alvarez, Alexis DeBoer, Ava Carroll, Melody Acevedo, and Morgan Reimer have contributed significantly across recent series sweeps over Northwestern, Maryland, Michigan, and Iowa.
The upcoming Cardinal Classic also marks another chapter in long-standing rivalries: Washington holds an all-time record of nine wins without loss over Saint Mary’s—including a win earlier this year—and leads its series against former Pac-12 opponent Stanford by sixty-five wins to thirty-five losses.
Looking ahead to these key matchups on the road could further cement Washington’s standing within collegiate softball as they aim to continue their historic start under challenging conditions.
