The No. 25 Washington Huskies softball team will travel to Columbus for their last Big Ten road trip of the season, beginning a three-game series against Ohio State on May 1.

This matchup marks the first time Washington and Ohio State have played each other in Columbus. The Huskies are looking to recover after recent losses to Oregon and UCLA before heading east for the Big Ten Tournament.

Washington’s schedule includes games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, all available to watch on Big Ten Plus. In their most recent home game, the Huskies honored senior Sophia Ramuno during Senior Day at Husky Softball Stadium. Ramuno has spent two seasons with Washington after transferring from Cal Poly.

Throughout the season, several players have received recognition in national rankings. Giselle Alvarez was ranked No. 10 among third basemen and Alexis DeBoer was also ranked No. 10 at first base by Softball America at midseason. The team has recorded multiple sweeps in conference play, including a sweep over Minnesota that improved their conference record to 15-0 at one point this season.

March was a strong month for Washington as they extended their winning streak to 20 games and went undefeated in both home and away contests during that period. They also recorded four Big Ten sweeps over Northwestern, Maryland, Michigan, and Iowa while outscoring opponents by nearly a hundred runs across those games.

Currently fourth in the Big Ten standings with a record of 34-15 overall (15-6 conference), standout performances include Morgan Reimer ranking third in wins among pitchers in the league with twenty-two victories and Sophia Ramuno holding one of the best WHIP statistics within conference play.

The upcoming series against Ohio State is notable as it is not only their first meeting as Big Ten opponents but also because Washington leads the all-time series between these teams with thirteen wins out of fifteen matchups.
