The Washington Huskies baseball team clinched a Big Ten series victory over Northwestern on March 29, winning 7-2 in Seattle. The Huskies improved their record to 12-15 overall and evened their conference play at 6-6.

The game was highlighted by strong pitching from Hayden Lewis, who allowed only one run on three hits over six innings and recorded four strikeouts. After a first-inning run by Northwestern, Lewis held the opposition to just one more hit through his outing.

Washington’s offense came alive in the fourth inning when Jackson Hotchkiss hit his eighth home run of the season with two runners on base, giving the Huskies a lead they would not relinquish. In the sixth inning, Ethan Swidler added another home run—his third of the year—while Daniel Porras contributed a third Husky homer in the seventh inning, marking his fifth of the season. Ty Cowan also drove in Blake Wilson with an RBI double later that inning.

Bryce Johnson relieved Lewis in the seventh and pitched three innings to earn his second save of the season. Johnson allowed two hits and one run while striking out two batters.

Hotchkiss currently leads Washington in several offensive categories: batting average (.410), slugging percentage (.902), and on-base percentage (.471). The team’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon against No. 16 Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon at 5:30 p.m.

The result marks another step forward for Washington as they continue their Big Ten campaign.
