The No. 19 Washington Huskies softball team secured its fifth Big Ten series on April 11 by defeating Minnesota 7-2 at Husky Softball Stadium.

This victory keeps the Huskies unbeaten in conference play, improving their record to 14-0 and maintaining their status as the only undefeated team in the Big Ten.

During Saturday night’s game, Washington managed a leadoff single in each of the first four innings. Kaycie Burdick and Alexis DeBoer started off strong with back-to-back singles in the opening frame. Although Minnesota scored first with a solo home run in the second inning, Washington quickly responded. Ava Carroll’s bunt single and Melody Acevedo’s hit set up Marley Teasley to load the bases for DeBoer, who hit a grand slam—her first of her sophomore year and third for Washington this season—to give her team a commanding lead.

Minnesota attempted to close the gap with an RBI single early in the third inning, but Washington added three more runs in the fourth inning to secure a final score of 7-2. Burdick, DeBoer, and Teasley each had two hits during the game.

The series will conclude on Sunday, April 12 at noon at Husky Softball Stadium. The final game can be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
