The No. 17 Washington Huskies softball team, holding a record of 26-6 overall and an undefeated 9-0 in Big Ten play, will play four games this week starting with Loyola Chicago before heading to Iowa for a three-game series, according to a March 23 announcement.

This upcoming stretch is significant as the Huskies aim to continue their best start in program history. Their current nine-game winning streak in conference play marks the strongest opening ever for Washington’s softball program. The team has also matched its longest winning streak since 2019 with sixteen consecutive victories.

The week begins with an away game against Loyola Chicago on Tuesday, followed by three games at Iowa from Friday through Sunday. Fans can watch Tuesday’s matchup on ESPN+ and the Iowa series on Big Ten Plus. In recent action, Ally Hetzel led Washington at Michigan with a .600 batting average over three games and recorded her first career multi-home run game. Giselle Alvarez contributed significantly as well, leading the team in multi-RBI games this season.

Morgan Reimer has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the Big Ten Conference, leading with seventeen wins and ranking third-best in earned run average (1.49). Three Huskies—Hetzel, Alexis DeBoer, and Kaycie Burdick—are among the conference’s top twenty batters by average. The team’s offense has been dominant throughout the season, outscoring opponents by wide margins and achieving ten shutouts so far.

Historically against their upcoming opponents, Washington is undefeated versus Loyola Chicago (2-0 all-time) without allowing any runs and holds a strong record against Iowa (9-1), having won their last nine matchups since their only loss in 1993.

Looking ahead, Washington seeks to maintain its momentum during this Midwest trip while continuing its pursuit of further milestones within both conference play and national rankings.
