The Washington Huskies men’s baseball team will conclude its four-game road trip with a game against Eastern Michigan on April 27. This contest marks only the second time the two programs have faced each other.
The upcoming matchup is significant as it provides the Huskies an opportunity to build on recent successes and further evaluate their roster depth. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available at HuskyStats.com.
Jackson Hotchkiss has emerged as a key player for Washington, recently hitting his 14th home run of the season, which places him 46th nationally despite missing part of the season. Hotchkiss leads the team in several offensive categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, home runs, and RBIs. The Huskies’ offense has also been notable for triples; they have recorded 15 this year—the most in the Big Ten and eighth-most nationally.
Pitching has been another strength for Washington. The staff ranks among national leaders in strikeout-to-walk ratio and WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched). Hayden Lewis recently earned his fifth win after pitching six innings against Michigan. Noah Kenney has also drawn attention by setting new career highs for innings pitched and earning recognition from Baseball America.
Eddie Smith is leading the program into his second season as head coach after joining from Utah Valley. Under Smith’s guidance, several players made their collegiate debuts this year while others set personal bests across various statistical categories.
Looking ahead, Washington will return home following this road contest to host Oregon for a three-game series at Husky Ballpark. The team’s final three home games of the season against UCLA are scheduled to be televised on Big Ten Network.
