The University of Washington track and field teams finished their participation at the Penn Relays with top-six placements in all four relay events, according to an April 25 report from the program. The final day at Franklin Field saw the women’s 4×800-meter team place fourth and the men’s 4xMile squad take sixth.

These results mark a consistent showing for the Huskies over two days of competition. The women’s team opted to focus on the 4×800-meter relay, withdrawing from the longer 4×1500-meter event. Chloe Symon started strong with a lead-off split of 2:08.51, followed by Jenica Swartz’s 2:05.51 leg that kept Washington near the front. Mia Cochran contributed a time of 2:07.58 before handing off to Chloe Foerster, who anchored with a split of 2:05.10 to secure fourth place behind Penn State, Stanford, and North Carolina.

The men’s race was described as tactical, with slower early splits compared to typical mile relay standards. Josiah Tostenson opened for Washington before passing to Tyler Bilyard and then Reuben Reina, whose third-leg split of 4:03.99 was fastest among his teammates and moved them into sixth position—a spot they held through Martin Barco’s anchor leg for an overall time of 16:48.86.

The performances at one of collegiate track’s most historic meets reflect depth across both squads as they approach season-ending competitions.

Looking ahead, next week will feature Washington athletes competing in their last regular season meets—the OSU High Performance Meet in Corvallis and Desert Heat Classic in Tucson—before turning attention toward the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
