The University of Washington Men’s Tennis Team defeated No. 54 Nebraska by a score of 4-3 on March 27 in Lincoln, Nebraska. With this win, Washington improved its season record to 8-10 and moved to 2-4 in Big Ten play.

This victory is significant for the Huskies as it marks an upset over a higher-ranked conference rival and helps the team build momentum during their road trip. The result also continues Washington’s lead in the all-time series against Nebraska, now standing at four wins to two.

The Huskies secured the doubles point early with wins from Brett Pearson and Soham Purohit, ranked No. 89 nationally, as well as Rohan Belday and Stephane Kamendje. In singles play, Pearson contributed another win after overcoming an early deficit, while Purohit rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat Leo Linquet of Nebraska in three sets. Hyeonseok Seo clinched the deciding point for Washington after winning a closely contested match that included two tiebreaks.

In total, singles victories came from Purohit (3-6, 6-2, 6-4), Pearson (6-1, 2-6, 6-1), and Seo (2-6, 7-6 [2], 7-6 [11–9]). The doubles matches saw Pearson/Purohit win their set convincingly at No.1 doubles (6–2) and Belday/Kamendje secure another point with a score of 6–4.

Washington will continue its road trip on Sunday morning against No.34 Wisconsin.
