Washington Men’s Tennis announced on May 8 the signing of Jan Chlodnicki, a top prospect from Osiny, Poland, for the 2026-27 season. Chlodnicki is expected to join the team in time for the fall campaign.

Chlodnicki brings significant experience competing against high-level opponents. He is currently ranked No. 127 in ITF Juniors by the Tennis Recruiting Network and has achieved multiple titles at J100 and J60 events in 2025 as well as J60 and J30 tournaments in 2024. Over his final two junior seasons, he compiled a record of 38 wins and 31 losses from a total of 69 matches. His accomplishments include an appearance at a Juniors Grand Slam at the Australian Open this past season and participation in an M15 event in 2025.

Head Coach Rahim Esmail said of Chlodnicki: “Jan is a world class player who has established himself as one of the top 40 ranked junior players in the world at one point. He has the potential to be an elite college tennis player – his work ethic and his desire to compete at the highest level are characteristics that we want in our program. Jan is a great addition to one of the best recruiting classes we have had in years.”

Chlodnicki joins other projected top-25 recruits Penn Charusorn and Sebastian Gampert on Montlake for the upcoming fall quarter. This group is expected to form one of Washington’s strongest recruiting classes under Coach Esmail’s tenure, with previous bests including No. 15 nationally ranked class in 2020, along with finishes at No.17 (2015 and 2007), No.19 (2009), and No.23 (2011).

The addition of Chlodnicki aims to further strengthen Washington Men’s Tennis as it prepares for future competition.
