Niamh Comerford and Cillian Mullen, members of the Washington women’s rowing team, were named to the “Husky 100” for 2026, according to an April 20 announcement. The Husky 100 is one of the University of Washington’s highest distinctions given annually to students who excel academically and contribute significantly to their community.
The recognition highlights students who are making a difference on campus and beyond. The award is notable as only a few student-athletes from Washington have received it in previous years, and this marks the first time two athletes from the same sport have been honored in the same year.
Comerford is a junior from London majoring in neuroscience. She has previously earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors, won a Big Ten Championship with the Huskies’ third varsity eight last year, participated in spinal cord research, volunteered at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, and plans to become a physician.
Mullen joined the UW rowing team ahead of the 2024 season. She has achieved Scholar-Athlete status, was named second-team All-America, won gold with the varsity eight at last year’s Big Ten Championships, and recently received this year’s Schaller Award for having her team’s highest grade point average. Mullen studies environmental studies and Arctic studies and has conducted research projects in Greenland.
The selection of Comerford and Mullen reflects both academic achievement and commitment to service among student-athletes at Washington.
