Washington rowing teams to compete in Head of the Lake Regatta on Nov. 2

Washington’s men’s and women’s rowing teams will participate in the annual Head of the Lake Regatta this Sunday, Nov. 2. The event, co-hosted by the University of Washington and Lake Washington Rowing Club, begins at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

The regatta features a three-mile course that starts in Lake Union northeast of Gasworks Park, passes through Portage Bay and Montlake Cut, and finishes in Union Bay of Lake Washington just east of Conibear Shellhouse. The event is considered the premier fall rowing competition in the Pacific Northwest.

Throughout the day, Washington crews will compete across several categories alongside youth, club, college, and masters crews. There are a total of 41 race categories scheduled for this year’s regatta.

Races involving University of Washington entries begin with Event #1 at 8:00 a.m., featuring Men’s Collegiate/Open 8+ for the Ben Porter Cup. Other notable events include Men’s Collegiate JV 8+, Championship Women’s 8+ sponsored by Pocock Racing Shells, Women’s Collegiate JV 8+, as well as multiple varsity and open events throughout the morning.

Organizers note that UW’s entries may change some race categories during the day and recommend following live results for updates on specific races.

This regatta marks both teams’ final event for their fall season schedule.
