The Washington softball team ended its season on May 16 after a 4-6 loss to South Florida at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Huskies finished the regular season with a record of 37 wins and 20 losses, including a 16-8 mark in their second year competing in the Big Ten conference.

The team played two games on Saturday, first defeating Fordham 5-2 before facing South Florida for an elimination matchup. In the win over Fordham, seven Huskies recorded hits, led by Kaycie Burdick who went three-for-four. Alexis DeBoer and Jadyn Glab also had multi-hit performances. DeBoer contributed two runs batted in (RBIs), including singles that scored Burdick in both the third and fifth innings. The Huskies added additional runs through hits by Glab and Ally Hetzel’s sacrifice fly, as well as taking advantage of Fordham errors.

Sophia Ramuno earned her eleventh win of her final collegiate season against Fordham, recording six strikeouts while sharing pitching duties with Morgan Reimer.

In their second game against South Florida, Washington managed four runs on ten hits but could not overcome late scoring from their opponent. Back-to-back home runs by Glab—her twelfth of the season—and Ava Carroll sparked hope for the Huskies in the fourth inning. However, South Florida responded with key plays later in the game to regain and extend their lead.

Giselle Alvarez provided a crucial two-RBI double for Washington late in the contest but it was not enough as South Florida sealed its victory with additional runs off a solo home run and a two-run single during the sixth inning. With this result, South Florida advanced to play Arkansas while Washington’s postseason run concluded.
