The No. 17 Washington softball team secured an 8-0 victory over North Dakota on March 18, completing a perfect home stretch at Husky Softball Stadium. The Huskies improved their record to 23-6 overall and 6-0 in the Big Ten, winning all eight games of their homestand.

This win marks Washington’s 13th consecutive victory, with nine of those wins achieved by run rule. The pitching duo of Morgan Reimer and Sophia Ramuno combined for the team’s tenth shutout of the season.

Three freshmen—Ally Hetzel, Mila Reddy, and Melody Acevedo—were included in the starting lineup. Hetzel contributed two hits and an RBI while playing catcher for her fifth start behind the plate this year. Junior Giselle Alvarez led the offense, going three-for-three with four runs batted in, including her ninth home run of the season.

The Huskies took an early lead in the first inning with RBI singles from Alvarez and Alexis DeBoer. Alvarez extended the lead further with a home run in the second inning and a double in the fourth that brought home another run. Pinch hitters Zuri Patterson and Riley Peschek also contributed RBIs late in the game, with Peschek’s single ending the contest via run rule.

Looking ahead, Washington will begin a ten-day road trip starting with a three-game series at Michigan on March 20. The team will then play Loyola Chicago on March 24 before heading to Iowa for three games from March 27 to March 29.
