The No. 17 Washington softball team completed a series sweep of Michigan on March 22, defeating the Wolverines 10-7 at Hutchins Stadium.

This victory marks Washington’s third Big Ten sweep and improves their record to 9-0 in conference play, which is the best start in program history. The team’s current 16-game win streak matches its longest since 2019.

All three games in the series were closely contested, with Michigan scoring first in two of them. On Sunday, Alexis DeBoer hit a three-run home run—her twelfth of the season—to give Washington an early lead. DeBoer finished the weekend batting .385 with five runs batted in.

Ally Hetzel contributed significantly by going three-for-three at bat and hitting two home runs during Sunday’s game, marking her first multi-home run performance in college. Over the series, Hetzel posted a .600 average (6-for-10) with a double, triple, two home runs, and three RBI. Giselle Alvarez also played an important role offensively by batting .500 (6-for-12) with two doubles and three RBI across the series.

Pitcher Morgan Reimer entered for Washington in the fourth inning on Sunday and recorded four strikeouts over four innings to earn her seventeenth win of the season. The Huskies maintained their lead through late-inning scoring plays from Kaycie Burdick and additional hits from teammates.

Looking ahead, Washington will travel to Chicago for a midweek game against Loyola Chicago on Tuesday before heading to Iowa for another Big Ten matchup.
