The No. 16 Washington softball team secured a 7-0 victory over Loyola Chicago on March 24, marking its 17th consecutive win and extending its record to 27-6 overall and 9-0 in the Big Ten.

This result highlights Washington’s strong performance this season, with the team achieving its eleventh shutout and remaining undefeated on the road.

Sophia Ramuno started as pitcher for Washington, earning her seventh win of the year with a season-high twelve strikeouts. The Huskies recorded nine hits but did not score until the fifth inning. Giselle Alvarez delivered her first career multi-home run game, scoring in both the fifth and sixth innings. Kaycie Burdick hit her first career home run with a grand slam in the sixth inning to increase Washington’s lead to five runs.

Burdick finished with three hits and a career-high five runs batted in, including an RBI single in the seventh inning that brought in Washington’s final run. Both Alvarez and Burdick led offensively for Washington with three hits each.

The Huskies will travel next to Iowa City for a Big Ten series against Iowa starting Friday, March 27.

As their winning streak continues, observers will be watching how Washington maintains its momentum as it enters further conference play.
