The Washington softball team achieved its first no-hitter of the season on March 28, defeating Iowa 10-0 at Hawkeye Softball Complex. The victory marks the team’s twelfth shutout and extends their winning streak to nineteen games.

This win keeps Washington undefeated in Big Ten conference play and secures their fourth consecutive series victory in the league. Pitchers Sophia Ramuno and Rylee Rehbein combined for the no-hitter, with Ramuno pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing no hits, two walks, and striking out six batters to earn her eighth win of the season.

Offensively, Kaycie Burdick, Alexis DeBoer, and Ally Hetzel each recorded two hits. Eight of nine Washington starters had at least one hit as the team scored ten runs on eleven hits. The Huskies took an early lead by scoring three runs in the first inning with back-to-back doubles from DeBoer and Giselle Alvarez.

Additional runs came from a combination of singles, fielding errors by Iowa, a passed ball, sacrifice fly by Melody Acevedo, and timely hitting throughout six innings. The game ended after six innings due to Washington’s ten-run lead.

The series finale is scheduled for Sunday morning at Hawkeye Softball Complex.
