The Washington women’s basketball team lost to Texas Christian University 62-59 in overtime on March 23 at Schollmaier Arena. Despite holding TCU to its lowest first half score of the season, Washington was unable to secure the win.

This game was significant as it marked another strong performance for Washington, which has made its second consecutive appearance in March Madness. The Huskies have also achieved their first 20-win season, highest winning percentage, and most wins inside Alaska Airlines Arena since their last notable campaign.

Sayvia Sellers led Washington with 18 points and five assists, while Avery Howell scored 14 points and collected eight rebounds. Brynn McGaughy contributed 13 points, including a key shot late in regulation that sent the game into overtime. Hannah Stines added 10 points for the Huskies. Defensively, Washington limited TCU to just six points in the second quarter and held them to four three-pointers out of nineteen attempts.

Throughout the season, several players received recognition for their performances. Sellers was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and was included on both the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team and as a USBWA All-America finalist. Howell earned USBWA Player of the Week honors and an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, while McGaughy was selected for the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
