The No. 21 Washington women’s tennis team defeated No. 41 Iowa with a 4-0 sweep on March 22 at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

This win brings Washington’s season record to 13-1, including a 4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The victory comes after the team’s first loss of the season, showing their ability to recover quickly.

In doubles, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim extended their undefeated streak to nine matches with a 6-1 win on Court No. 2. Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif secured the doubles point for Washington by winning their match on Court No. 3 with a score of 6-3.

Karolina Kozakova was scheduled to make her debut for Washington at the No. 6 singles spot but won by default due to an injury on the Iowa side. In singles play, Weissheim continued her strong performance by winning in straight sets, bringing her spring record to a perfect 12-0 and tying Carter for most singles wins on the team. Sherif clinched the overall match victory with a decisive win on Court No. 4, improving her own record to 11-1 this season.

The Huskies will return home for their next match against Northwestern, scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
